Motherhood
For many women, motherhood is something we look forward to. The journey to motherhood isn’t always easy; however, when it does happen, it is truly a life changing experience.
Motherhood is a beautiful, yet overwhelming experience. As a mom of small children, I sometimes find myself feeling both exhausted and overwhelmed from the shear amount of responsibilities that I have, especially motherhood. Whenever I feel like this, I need to take a “breather” by having alone time with God. Whenever it seems like time and the kids won’t allow me to have alone time, I have to be intentional and make time in my schedule to do so. This may mean that I have to wake up early in the morning or go to bed late at night sometimes.
One of my go-to Bible verses to read and remind myself of is found in Matthew chapter 11, verses 28-30 in the NLT. Sometimes I have to re-read things multiple times until I have engrained it into my heart and mind. These Bible verses are ones that I have to frequently refer back to. I’ll post them below.
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’”
When we are tired, overwhelmed, and have a lot on our plates, we need to go to Him for our rest. I know, easier said than done sometimes. But there is no harm in trying.
Last year, I saw this video YouTube, which gives this another perspective concerning the anxiety and fatigue of motherhood. I’ll post it below, but I’d like to give a little more context first. I have been subscribed to Wonderful Acts with Alyssa on YouTube for several years now (even before I was married or even engaged). She posts good Biblical content that has helped me with my own spiritual walk and faith in God. Anyway, I watched this video when I truly needed it. I have it saved, so I still go back and re-watch it whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed by motherhood.
I pray that this post provides comfort to all of the moms out there! You are not alone and you are a good mother!
Blessings <3
