Be Still & Know

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
With all the busyness going on in our lives, it can be easy to slip into negative thinking and feeling bad ourselves. That was my case recently. My counselor recently recommended reflecting on things I’m grateful for at the end of each day. Nearly every day, since that appointment, I’ve been reflecting on everything God has done for me and my family thus far. It is very sobering and humbling to reflect on His goodness and how He’s changed me & my life for the better. By being reminded of His goodness, it makes the busyness seem insignificant since I know He is with me through it all.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner for all of us in the United States. I want to encourage you all, including myself, to take some time out of our busy schedules to sit and reflect on God’s goodness and faithfulness. If you need to write down those things that He’s done that you are grateful for, please do so. I’d like to get back into journaling my experiences with God again, so I’d like to do the same.
There are two praise and worship songs that I had in mind for this post, but I decided to post only one in this blog post. Since I plan on continuing this gratitude exercise, by reflecting on the goodness of God, I’ll do my best to post one song a week until Thanksgiving. Of course, we shouldn’t stop being thankful for everything that God has done for us once the Thanksgiving holiday is over. I would like to encourage you all, including myself, to continue reflecting on all that God has done for us and our families from here on out, even if it’s just for a couple minutes a day. Let us not get lost in the busyness of our lives.
