Mercy of God
As continue to pause from our busy schedules each day, let us continue our journey of gratitude and thanksgiving. As previously mentioned in a prior post, one thing to be grateful for is God’s love for us and all He has done for us. To help do so, I wanted to share this song. I thought I shared it a long time ago, but after searching through previous posts, I saw that I haven’t posted it yet. This song is a reminder of how God turned things around for us. It reminds us of the stark contrast of how we used to be, before having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and how we are now. It also reminds us why Jesus came down from heaven and we he endured the cross for us.
John 3:12-18 (AMP)
“'If I told you earthly things [that is, things that happen right here on earth] and you do not believe, how will you believe and trust Me if I tell you heavenly things? No one has gone up into heaven, but there is One who came down from heaven, the Son of Man [Himself—whose home is in heaven]. Just as Moses lifted up the [bronze] serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life [after physical death, and will actually live forever]. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him]. '
Blessings!
LYRICS:
I’m living proof
Of what the mercy of God can do
If You knew me then
You’d believe me now
He turned my whole life upside down
He took the old and He made it new
That’s just what the mercy of God can do
Now I’m alive to tell the story
How I’ve overcome
It’s His goodness and mercy
And the power of His blood
I’m so glad that my freedom
Wasn’t based on what I’ve done
But His goodness and mercy
And the power of the blood
Thought I deserved
To be six feet beneath the earth
For all the things I’ve done
The things I’ve said
The choices made that I regret
Oh I would still be lost
But for the mercy of God
Was the cross meant for me
That my Savior carried
Now I’ve been made free
By the mercy of God
Was the grave meant for me
Where my sin lay buried
Now I stand redeemed
By the mercy of God
